JAKARTA, Dec. 28 (Reuters) - An Air Asia plane making the connection between the Indonesian city of Surabaya and Singapore lost contact with airline authorities announced Sunday local media citing the Ministry of Transport.
A spokesman for the ministry, Mustofa Hadi, said that contact was lost with the flight QZ 8501 at 6:17 local time (11:17 p.m. GMT).
He added that the aircraft had asked to be confused shortly before losing contact. (Robert Birsel,; Nicolas Delame for the French service)
